6/22/19: Being back in SF

WEEK 2 OF 2 UPDATE!
This is the only full week that Carlo's going to have and we honestly didn't plan anything, but it's turned out to be quite busy week. Making the most of it while he's here!

Thoughts of being back in San Francisco after an entire year:
  • It is definitely one of the most beautiful cities we've ever visited, and we're blessed to have been grown and raised here. But MAN, is it expensive!!
  • Everything is just more expensive here.. obviously rent/housing cost - but most noticeably - FOOD! We'll eat the same thing in NY and it's like 25-30% cheaper. It makes us re-evaluate if we really do want to return to the Bay after our stint in New York is over. Another thing is because education here is also more expensive and ridiculously competitive to even get into a good daycare or private school. We'll see.
  • So much has changed.. already! There's been a lot of constructions projects around the city which have completed since we left - nice to see construction zones being cleared out and interesting to see new buildings pop up.
  • So nice staying at my childhood house in the Richmond! Real SF and being able to walk to Golden Gate Park on slow weekdays and reminiscing about my childhood, and just being able to breathe fresh, clean air!! Not like New York.. haha. Definitely more green and trees here. And just the slower pace. I love it!
Some highlights of the week:
  • Visiting Trader Joe's after not going to one for FOUR MONTHS (I miss it so much..)
  • Eating good Vietnamese food (Yummy Yummy and Pho Luen Fat) when we got back. SO GOOD. New York overall doesn't seem to have many good and cheap Vietnamese restaurants like we do in the Bay, so this was something we missed.
  • Burmese lunch with Carlo's parents and my grandparents! (Pleasantly surprised here, because specifically my grandma liked the food and she's usually picky!)
  • Going downtown to eat lunch at La Mar (where we had our wedding) - Carlo specifically wanted to eat the tres leches cake because we were drunk AF during the wedding and didn't get to taste it properly and he wanted to try it again.. food is all good as I remember and it was nice sitting on the outdoor patio reminiscing about our wedding.
  • Visiting work fam! It was nice seeing them after a year and everyone was excited to see the baby.. and me too.. I think. Lol :)
  • Catching up with one of our good friends that wouldn't be making the Red Egg party. So nice to have an intimate one on one catch up with friends.
  • Family dinner for Carlo's side
  • Walking around Golden Gate Park with just the three of us
  • Hot pot night at my house with my family
  • Upcoming wedding on Saturday!!
  • Red Egg for Mya this Sunday :)
