went to nyc the weekend of thanksgiving as part of our goodbye NYC tour!! SO FUN. brought  back some good memories and made new ones, as a FAMILY too. the city really energizes mya. so chaotic, loud, and quiet, but she seemed to have thrived off of it and was really good at listening & walking, especially b/c we were adamant about only bringing one stroller.. (a must with going up and down stairs with the subway!!) some old favs: chelsea market - spent THREE hours there! you never know what your kid will be into, lol dough doughnuts! cake from sant ambroeus some news: natural history museum, saw dinosaur fossils for the first time, that was prob both me and mya's favorites!! little island mya loves copying jackson and also pretending to be a baby feels like she's going thru a growth spurt! sometimes still clamors that she's hungry and then requests for fruit or a smoothie finally saw her playing with her best friend at school (benji!) we never get to see her play with h...

MYA started being scared of the dark at night and now we use a night light! trick or treated again and this year she got the concept of candy and treats.. last year, we were able to pass it as ‘counting beans' actually said "trick or treat" "thank you" and "happy halloween" to people this year! still gets scared to take things out of peoples hands when offered something doesnt carry her blanket or bear out of bed in the morning anymore can start writing letters on her own! likes talking/acting like a baby (maybe to mimic jackson, or to get attention, who knows! i still find it cute) claps and gives him toys to make him feel better when he cries. sometimes is still rough with him but not on purpose. it's cute that she wants to hold his hand to walk together or sits behind him when he's standing to make sure he "doesn't fall" =) calls us funny bunny seems to be in a big curious phase (asks "why did you do that, or move that he...

MYA jackson's legit the only one she loves unconditionally. always tries to tickle him and claps for him to try to get him to smile. looks out for him and puts pillows and blankets behind him so "he doesn't fall" gave her jelly beans to try for the first time while we were on vaca in LA because it was around the house. unsurprisingly she loved it! one of her first times having real candy learning spanish at school and sings us bueno dias sings along with mickey mouse clubhouse theme song when it starts! cats are still her favorite even after meeting calvins and carltons dogs for the first time! surprisingly does not get scared when dogs bark (in fact, she loves it!) carlo tried to get them to be quiet b/c he thought it would startle mya, but mya actually yelled at carlo that she liked it lol she really loved the dogs! stayed in calvin & susanna's room just staring at bao bao for prob at least over 30 m? we left her alone while we were doing other things and sh...

Jackson's sleep journey

Y’all. It’s been a journey with Jackson’s sleep (and hence, my sleep..) There’s literally been ONE time that he only woke up once. Maybe less than ten times that he had 2 wake-ups. He’s one year old. I think most kids prob have 0-1 wake-ups at this age range. He hasn’t gotten a break since he’s been about 6 months old, with the on and off ear infections, various sicknesses, teething, and now the recovery from the ear tube surgery (it’s been one week). We are hopeful that it’s still only up from here, hell, it HAS to be. His 2 week follow up is next week, and his 1 year appointment is also one week. Li’l dude. I hope that you are doing well and feeling well. It’s too bad you can’t tell us :(. Overall he is always happy unless he really, really doesn’t get enough sleep. I just feel a bit sad because he can be even HAPPIER (is that possible?! There’s always room for more happiness and smiles :))

she always ask to "snuggle LOTS" before bedtime (her words!) this replaces me reading "the last book" more than like 10x.. thankfully she knows her boundaries with books now. 5 books and that's IT. no more weekend naps sometimes calls me "MUMMY" "ok MUMMY!" sfkldsjgklds i think one night i said i love you, and she said i love you back! she almost never does, lol, holds her cards tight to her chest. it was raining and she was so excited to grab and wear her rain coat on her own (i was just gonna have her run in the rain for a quick sec) and find her boots! i didn't even know where her boots were and she hasn't worn them in literally MONTHS since it hasn't been cool enough, and there was such a glimmer in her eye when she had the whole outfit on and went in the rain. of course i let her jump in some puddles :) really knows her routine! she went out with po po to the library and actually prompted to come home herself. in fact she was...

10m & 3y6m

mya mya is such a sweetie! she surprises me with her intelligence and with something new every day, still. i think one of the cutest moments this month was when we were bantering with each other in the car, and i was like, "do you love mommy??" she said, "no!" and i was like, "awww.." and she said, "i love you, mommy!" aiyaaaa first nightmare (where she was able to tell us the next day that she was scared and had a nightmare) - so sad on sleep notes!! there was two instances where she actually left her room during a nap bc she was unhappy about something. that was the first time that she actually left her room during a nap/sleep bc she always has previously stayed in there. maybe she finally has the courage/is realizing she's not confined to her bed comes out by herself in the morning when she's up for the day first time we went to a restaurant and she exclaimed that she wanted to place her order by herself! i wasn't there (bc i was ...

mya: she has been getting noticeably taller and leaner. growing vertically! i'm sad because she's looking less like a baby and more like a little girl.. officially. she's growing into her bed (it looked gigantic when we first got it). GAH. she still has her moments of doing baby-ish things but she is just SO INTELLIGENT and says so many interesting things and always surprises us with what she says/asks/remembers. it makes sense that toddlers are up to 3 years old T__T i think i will really miss this stage. i've previously said that "every age has been the age so far" but i think 3-4 is going to be peak cuteness, though love always evolves and it will be so cool to really see her learning and continuing to be more of her own person, forming her own thoughts and opinions. still loves recognizing and reciting letters in books and getting really good at it. she messes up B & P sometimes and I for L (understandably so) new absolute fav show is COCOMELON. IDK w...

mya: taught her "exclamation point" when she sees it in a book and she repeats it back to me still loves recognizing and reciting letters still haven't settled on a new 'favorite' show but some recent watches are chuchutv surprise eggs & sea of love went strawberry picking (first of the season!) and she can even remember when we went last year and that we were on a tractor. of course her favorite part is sampling the strawberries :3 getting more courageous with animals! pet a goat and mini horse with less prompting than before more expressive in what she wants when we're out and will stay back if she wants to see something and we're moving forward recent habit of putting her fingers in her mouth can put on her shoes & socks pretty well now loves bathtime and recently put her in the "big" adult bath (without the kiddy bath) and she freakin LOVES it good about putting things back to where they belong when we're out before she moves awa...

7 months & 3y3m

jackson! 17 lbs, 2 oz, about 1.5 lbs heavier than mya at this age! he is keeping our hands full. might be going through a sleep regression/mental leap, but the last few days, he's been hard to put down for sleep (will cry immediately once set in bed) and requires someone to carry him for 5-10m before he actually goes down. we do see that he IS learning a lot these few days, it's very apparent - so it could be a mental leap. fingers crossed! as of now i guess you could say, he's needing some assistance when he sleeps. hopefully we don't have to do sleep training again, but at least it should be a little easier when they're a little older. unfortunately he still wakes up about 2-3x a night. i'm not quite sure if it's to nurse or out of habit, but most of the time he does eat. i'm a little worried that sleeping through the night may affect my milk supply negatively (as it did with mya) so i'm continuing to nurse in the middle of the night for now, even...

6months & 3y2m

jeez, the month flew by so fast! I usually try to take notes in my phone to keep up with milestones/happenings so i can compare them both, but it really crept up on me this time :/  JACKSON 17 lbs and 26.25 inches! 2 pounds heaver and 1.25 inches taller than mya at this age. started getting more deliberate with grabbing things and i can see him going for specific items now, whereas previously his movements were more random still a smiley/happy boi started daycare at about 5.5 months. he didn't nap that well (well, still doesn't in general) the first week but overall at least he's settling into a schedule. his lack of daytime naps usually just means better night time sleep and he consistently goes down around 6:30-7. i think he had less stranger danger than mya so he seemed to have adjusted quicker! i'm glad he gets to socialize with other babies and gets different stimulation from people other than us 3 adults wow! it seems like ages ago but we started sleep training h...

5 months & 3y1m

JACKSON started trying to grab everything and wants to put everything in his mouth grabs his own hands :3 smiles at whoever ISN'T holding him always loves watching mya, but for some reason, never smiles at her (though i think it's b/c she doesn't specifically smile at him, she's just playing with him) got his first real bad sickness. congestion in the chest, he was wheezing and having trouble breathing so his sleep wasn't good for 2 nights (was just like a flashback to infant days..) but recovered fairly quickly, and like mya, even though he was sick, he was still in good spirits had like 2 weeks of 1-2 wakeups per night, but after he got sick, was back to being up every 2 hours.. yowza. thankfully back to about 2 nightly wakeups now, though going to start sleep training soon can do tummy time for like 10m sometimes! still not rolling over loves to chat! sometimes oohs and ahhs when he's really sleepy until he gets tired and just closes his eyes. such a cutie. ...

4 months & 3 YEARS OLD!!!!!!

MYA IS 3!!! she LOVED her birthday and being showered with love all day, starting from the morning when we were all telling her happy birthday, to all the birthday events after school we got her chick fil a (b/c chicken nuggets are her favorite!), HUGE paw patrol balloon & a small white cake that had a '3' and 'happy birthday' candle on it. of course, she was extra happy because she received tons of valentines at school too and they also presented her with a birthday crown at school and i'm sure she secretly (or maybe not so secretly) enjoyed all the extra attention around her. she saw the birthday crown on our dresser the next morning and demanded to wear it. carlo actually asked if she wanted to take it off before dropping her off at school (usually she takes off all her hats with no prob) but she wanted to keep it on. in looking at the daycare pictures, she actually kept in on til about noon.. what a queen! we celebrated over the weekend too - unfortunately c...

3 months & 35 months

jackson his feet are already filling up his 3-6 month onesie and he hasn't even turned 6 months yet!! loves assisted standing def loves being awake whereas mya loved to sleep.. don't remember ever having trouble putting her down in the day lol. he'll sometimes be awake for like 90 minutes, sleep for like 15 minutes, and be up for another hour.. vocal! cries or does a yelp when he doesn't like something. i don't remember mya ever having such opinions, and especially so young. she always just liked observing and going for the ride seems to love dad! dad always is able to calm him down within 5 seconds starting to like bathtime! doesn't cry at all when he gets put in the bath. just looks very alert but is quiet. still eating every 2 hours T__T loves playing with his tongue & making bubbles loves chatting! wonder if he's an extrovert sometimes does forceful yells instead of sneezes.. so cute lol mya: first christmas that she will have a memory of! wanted to...
