mya actually SMILES for pics now when strangers take them (doesn't look terrified lol) knows easy sight words (is, by, my, she, he, the, and) - she just started school about two months ago and has already noticeably progressed! she would get so flustered and defensive when we would try to read with her at home but she feels more confident with it now after practicing at school homework is easy addition (1+3) and coloring groups of numbers and stuff. she finishes it quite easily and is probably top 10% of her class carlo says she's like top 25% height of her class which is so surprising lol i wonder what percentile she's at or if everyone in her class is just short! still doesn't really talk about friends, probably has some connections but nothing deep yet loves school! first field trip - pumpkin patch - daddy chaperoned and got to meet her classmates. he said it was a lot of waiting around for kids bc they get so easily distracted lol and that he doesn't have patie...

jackson adjusted really well to mya being at school and is actually more easy (we thought he'd be harder bc he's so emotional) but as one kid, no fights to deal with, and he actually really loves learning and is generally super happy and easygoing (as long as he gets food and sleep). this is the first we're really seeing HIM on his own so it's been lovely seeing his personality shine through. loves songs, dancing, dress-up, reading ALWAYS chatting or talking (mya was a much more quiet baby..) still randomly comes in to give me hugs and also loves to grab my hand to "nuggle" it (still doesn't say s's properly) first dentist visit - did REALLY well and stayed still. dentist said he was a 'model patient!' held the sucking straw by himself. around this time he also just turned really good at brushing his teeth at night, doesn't squirm or complain loves using scissors even if he doesn't quite get the hang of it yet (thankfully we have kiddi...

mya started kindergarten! still doesnt say hi to people BUT plays with kids so instantly! met kai/parker for the first time and they actually started kinda playing together at the first meeting within like 20 mins or so. tiff/daniel visited as momo was back from hawaii and ALL the kids (caelen, cerie, denise, tristan, mya, jackson) were prob playing for like 90 mins without any fighting or crying from ANYONE -- though - mya and jackson did come down a lot and played by themselves / with kow fu (fishing). ultimately, i think they like their physical space because they were all playing in the small room and i'm sure it prob got hectic/crowded. it was so funny seeing denise/jackson talking and playing with each other!! jackson loves finding/playing with sticks when we're out loves bananas, oatmeal, hot dogs, soft soupy rice, noodles, chicken & duck skin tried bamboo, clams, and squid, and loves it self potty training. generally pretty good about pooping in the toilet. likes...

jackson parent-teacher conference he's a sweetie! loves stories, playing with animals, and one girl named ella. open to using potty (even if he doesn't pee every time). 30m attention span to stories. listens and participates. sensitive if someone bothers him. eats everything on his plate with no complaints. comfortable with po po, kow fu and calvin & susanna! happily responds to them on his own without needing us there tells stories and knows how to give appropriate responses as if he knows what we're talking about (most of the time i think he does) tends to whine and complain non-verbally (i dont think mya's ever done that!) just rolls around and whines doesn't like being yelled at (well, who does) but then does this sly face with me when i tell him its ok to do things a certain way "im the mad queen!! wa ha ha!!" he's seriously the best at not only the motions but expressions bouncy runner not shy around adults, actually talks to them (was talka...

mya first time where she sat down next to a kid on a play structure (a boy!) and smiled at him and actually was kinda talking to him new fav: asian vegetables loves running and frolicks by herself most times if it's a nice big open playground ok with eating white fish now! so CRAZY doesnt go in the room to jackson while he naps anymore and works on her activities on her own (bracelet making, foil art, sticker activity) hasnt got tired of the stories book (with silver pages) we found at the park loves to randomly tell me about cats "you know, cats don't need to go on walks. sometimes if they go outside, they need a stroller" talked to tyler UNPROMPTED in like one of his first interactions with her!! so good that's she's getting more comfortable with grownups though she really doesn't like being put on the spot and still doesn't say hi, bye, or thank you to people still super into her storybook after like 1-2 months now?!? jackson loves bananas, oatmeal...

jackson: responds "yes" (when we ask him qs) - so cute! no lisp or anything. just so confident-sounding doesn't like putting on jackets (this isn't new though, it's been since like.. a year ago at least lol but he's very vocal now) still in his mommy phase some nights he stays up til 9-9:15 and pretty much will just wait until i go to bed with him until he falls asleep. i'm still the only one he wants next to him until he falls asleep T_T carlo can't even help me! so funny when he sneaks out of bed.. he pretends to be a worm low on the floor, then slowly crawls still likes to line up toys and categorizes them. if he plays with something and there's a match, he runs off to find the match on his own without saying anything more into play after school than sitting still for dinner still loves mushrooms. loves sweet potatoes and can eat cherries by himself! picks shells/skin of pistachios loves to pretend to work at an ice cream shop and asks "wh...

easter egg hunt #2 at chloe's second egg hunt, they divided egg hunts into diff age groups. mya's age group had ALL the kids running and laser focused and mya was darting around too. i love that she just went and did her own thing. cherry blossom festival at j-town. so crowded by mya just likes looking around and being around crowds i think :) first SF giants baseball game! very hot day but again, I think mya liked the energy and wearing her SF giants cap and seeing other ppl wear their gear. when jackson was napping after, we had ice cream from safeway and i think she enjoyed that probably the most :). jackson ran the bases. we find that he really likes obstacle courses bc there was one at BUG DAY at randall museum and that was his favorite. BUG DAY - mya was overwhelmed and didn't really wanna do anything, while jackson was happily doing the crafts and actually touched all the animals (snakes, cockroaches, centipede!) chloe came over for the first time on her own as susa...

mya dentist appt - might have have PTSD from the doc appt the friday prior from the ONE HOUR wait time and the unkind nurse, but she didn't do as well this time around with the dentist. was super nervous and kept wanting to shut her mouth and whining a bit, but still got thru it. still very proud of her as she is very young! i didn't go, but carlo did and he said he really wanted to leave bc mya was just so uncomfortable and being a slippery egg/trying to cling to carlo mya is a VERY quick runner! i think she can run the same speed as me but her legs are actually just shorter so obviously i'm still overall "faster" we did a 6.7 mile hike and land's end and mya actually walked ALL of it bc we didn't use a stroller or anything. she was a trooper and barely complained.. we need to do more hikes! :) lately when jackson naps, she's been really good about generally self entertaining. i just need to have an activity or a new toy and she can keep herself ente...

every weekend is getting easier bc the kids just play together and keep each other entertained til about 10:30-11 easily most times, though, we still have to go out early bc jackson naps pretty consistently before 1 PM nowadays. first time seeing lion dancing (SSF library event). mya & jackson loved it! i loved that mya beamed even more when she saw that it was two female lion dancers inside! jackson - has to grab something before coming into our room in the middle of the night (grabbed a teddy bear and balloon one time, so cute! looked like he was a teddy bear going to a bday party) REALLY gets into the frozen songs and does his own emotional renditions lol loves to read still (teachers say the same thing!) "aw man" "i will" "mm HMM: "holaf" (instead of olaf) jackson graduated to next class slept more at 9 PM for a good 2-3 weeks.. back to being 'on-schedule..' i find it wild that i can actually have simple conversations.. growing up too...

jackson's been super into moby shinobi! a few nights even after getting into bed, he's gone and grabbed the book and tried to get me to read it. of course, i want him to sleep so i just put it on the side. most of the time, he'll be sucking his thumb but momentarily, he'll sometimes check to see if i'm there or roll towards me and then butt his head into my body or caress/hold my arm.. ugh.. he's too sweet!! so cuteee. he still loves being hugged in the morning and really goes into my body when i hold him and smiles sometimes too. had our xmas dinner with mom's side of the family at our yi-yi's house and jackson warmed up so quickly! he was able to play with new people fairly quickly and we weren't even that close to him (joe, michelle, and amy). i think he really takes to it when a female guides him and holds his hand and everything. mya's s till shy but gets into play when everyone else gets into it. they had this nesting doll and mya really li...
