postpartum AND mya update: week 2

went to Jackson's 2 week appointment and he gained FIFTEEN oz and is now 7 lbs 4 oz. weight gain was definitely significant - he jumped from 10th to 20th percentile now.. still small but hopefully at least his rate of growth continues to trend this way. i can tell his cheeks and legs have rounded out. i've been very religious about not letting him sleep over 3 hours because we want to make sure he gets all of his calories and grows a lot since he was a tinky winky at birth (borderline premie)

at 2 weeks postpartum.. i'm currently getting about 4-5 hours of sleep a night since i wake up every 2 hours or so to feed him. naps are kinda variable but generally i'm only able to nap about 30-45 minutes >_>.. thankfully i'm the kind of person that operates fine on little sleep but still wish i could sleep more of course..

spoke too soon about muh boobs. my nipples weren't that sore the first week but i think he's eating more now so they're a bit sore nowadays -- but not in freakin PAIN like with mya. i can tell my boobs are slowly making more make to account for the supply & demand from Jackson since they're slowly getting bigger and bigger. lol

with mya! i thought the change in dynamic / adjustment to a new being taking our attention away from her would be a lot harder and she would be acting out more, but i think my mom being here has definitely helped because it's basically a friend she can play with while either me and/or carlo are busy. it's nice to be able to just sit back for like over an hour with her occupied while i'm either nursing or having the luxury to zone out. she LOVES playing with my mom, they're literally on the same level.. lol

jackson.. jackson, jackson, jackson. just like mya, he is an extremely good sleeper - so i'm glad i KNOW to proactively wake him up every few hours because he probably would just cluster feed in the middle of the night from not eating enough in the day. glad i didn't allow that this time around!! i remember with mya though, she was great at eating, no matter how sleepy she was. i don't remember her having difficulties with latching, ever. with jackson, he's ALWAYS fighting latching onto my nipple even though i know he's hungry! it's a lot of me stretching my neck over and moving my hand to force him to eat at my nipple lolol

and maybe all babies do this but whenever he gets full he pretty much bends his neck back like 125 degrees and stays there.. was reading my old posts and mya did that too. i actually find that he's the cutest when he does that for some reason lol.

other things:

  • carlo cut jackson's hair completely bald - with mya her hair grew pretty unevenly and it was pretty unsightly, looking back, we should have just started anew too.
  • he's really good already at moving his head and neck muscles! hopefully flat head will not be an issue with him. also his head is smaller than mya's so it's probably easier for him to move
  • he's also good about tummy time. he complains a bit but doesn't hate it completely. most of the time he actually ends up resting or napping on his front side
  • overall easy to soothe and didn't get gassy like with mya (she would be pretty inconsolable because of the gas pent up in her tummy)
