Mya got a fever on Friday night and her fever lasted a full 5 days. We were pretty worried since a visit to the hospital is recommended if their fever doesn't break by 5 days, but thankfully she did! It was the worst sickness she's probably ever had.. especially because it was coupled with a pretty bad sore throat/cough.
We actually also ALL caught the sore throat from her and it's the worst sore throat I've ever had, so she must have been really miserable. I remember she just looked at me and said "I hurt.. my neck hurt.." =( about 9 days later, she still has her cough but thankfully is able to go back to daycare after not having been to school for over a week. Thankfully Carlo happened to have the week off since his parents are here anyway, and my work wasn't too busy. Just sucks because the parents can't really play with Mya during this time (because she's so grumpy and only wants us or nothing at all)
She's usually still pretty high-spirited when she's sick, but not this time. She was just grumpy the whole day with maybe like 5-10 minute windows of happiness. Mostly wanted to lie on the floor, or cuddle, or just watch Pocoyo. I mentioned in the last post that she hasn't asked for the TV ever since we moved here really, but guess we spoke too soon, because that's all she wanted to do.. I'm sure she doesn't have the spirits to do anything
else but zone out though, finding comfort in her virtual TV friend. Unfortunately her night-time sleep wasn't great either b/c of her cough so we could tell she was really miserable.
She's not usually one to cuddle too much but MAN we got some really good cuddle time, and it's one of the only good parts about her being sick.
Unfortunately didn't eat or drink much. Juice boxes, applesauce, cereal, and bread were the saviors. Food isn't something we worry too much about because she was still eating a little bit and she has some reserve fat in her belly she could probably lose =P Thankfully after all this she does look like she got a little taller.. there's this Chinese saying that a growth spurt is usually coupled with a fever for kids, which makes sense.. your body is being pretty regenerative when you're going through a fever, so I'm sure for kids it means growth as well!
I can't believe it took so long to get back to her true self, probably actually a full week of being sick and miserable! I was actually really sad on like, Sunday night, because she has been so grumpy and I was tearing up looking at old pictures and videos of her being happy and I was just like.. damn I miss that girl.. thankfully she's back! Still with a cough but back to high spirits, her glowing eyes, beaming smile, and cute laugh.... she literally didn't laugh for a whole week!
