mya/jackson are so good at mimicking! sometimes i can't tell who's talking because they sound the same.
one month into daycare, jackson doesn't even turn back and walks in by himself at dropoff. mya still gets sad but no tears anymore. she loves daycare though, i think she obviously just misses us when we drop her off. apparently carlo says she wants to stay at school longer when we go pick her up (most of her friends are still there and she's usually working on something!)
first daycare friend bday party at the park. she takes barely any time to warm up now and jumps straight into playgrounds!!
taking care of two of them is much easier now. they tend to entertain each other and mya is better at accommodating him nowadays and sometimes jackson either does his own thing or is into listening to mya.. like the other day, mya was reading to jackson and they both just laugh and jackson babbles on as if he understands. or they just work silently next to each other on something doing the same activity. most of the weekends even if we stay at home, there's less of that restless feeling because we don't have to be the sole source of entertainment anymore.
they're super into the library still (thankfully) even if the libraries aren't as good as in maryland! mya still really enjoys just reading and she's super into coloring. jackson just runs amuck and has free agency to do anything.
went to Lemos Farm. mya had a blast. i think her fav was riding the horses. no lines. i think jackson had a blast too. we also visited a beach near HMB that same day and me and mya had fun chasing waves! so cute. she could have probably been there over an hour just doing that, but it was kinda chilly and Jackson couldn't really partake yet.
also had a tourist weekend earlier in the month. visited Lombard St, Ghirardelli Sq and Fisherman's Wharf. so fun and the kids were definitely pooped.. glad we can make all these new memories with them. i think mya's fav or most memorable thing that day was prob the Musee Mecanique looking at arcade games for the first time and inserting coins into something!
finally have me-time again and got to have my first one on one with my mom in over 5 years!! the last time we had a one-on-one i think it was at Gary Danko and i told her i was pregnant (back in Apr 2018 or something..). crazy! we spent the day in the mission district eating crepes, visiting dolores park, and walking down valencia. so nice to make memories with her and just have adult conversations without having the kids around.

Mya;
now her school buddy is sparkle (the unicorn doll). she named it sparkle (her first doll she ever named!) idk, one day, she just asked to put it in her backpack and it's replaced her bunny ever since.
brings sparkle everywhere at school still. bites on her horn when she's nervous.
has a friend group now, about a group of 3-4 female friends! so diff than in Bel Air. maybe because they look more alike to her? she was the only asian girl in her class back then and maybe she didn't "fit in".
went to her first bday party for one of her daycare friends (Gideon) and she had a blast running around Coyote Point playground (her fav thing was running up and down the hills). she was wearing a girly pink flowery top and she must have felt like a ballerina because she was moving like one!
still into drawing.. we colored mandalas at the library with coloring pencils and she's been into it ever since! she's really good at staying in her sections and is really intentional about what colors she wants to use. i looked over and she even wrote her name at the top without us even asking (maybe a habit from school). she colored there for over 30 minutes by herself and jackson just copies her and is busy next to her too lol
can eat cherries now and spit out the pit on her own (without needing to bite around it!)
rode TWO horses without being as nervous and not really needing us at Lemos Farm. so brave!
veggie straws = fav snack
started doing cartwheels this month! landed with her knees though and finally started landing on her toes/feet after we talked to her about it
can jump from the top ladder of her bunk bed
folds blankets/sheets really well (something she learned from school)
quite an explorer at the playground now! loves to climb and try new structures

Jackson:
still really only says daddy and ye ye. sometimes will call grandma "mama" but rarely. still hasn't called me mommy yet!
still calls both shoes and socks "shoes"
his urgent toddler run still cracks me up
still loves to dance and to read books
loves to sing along to songs and clap
is a busy body! he likes to play by himself sometimes and can play on his own for up to 30m or so.. i don't think mya was that great at independent play at this age (though, she didn't have to be because we were both so much more involved back then!)
loves books and points and laughs at things on the pages
just opened the doorknob by himself the other day.. getting tall enough and having more coordination
seems like he's been thru a mental leap recently. a lot more talking and jabbering to himself and more clear with enunciating his words
sometimes talks to himself out the window or looking at a doll while we're driving
loves to sit in chairs by himself
likes to throw things in the trash (and has such a proud glowing look when given the mission to throw something away!)
loves the scrubbie animal dolls
loves playing with the small pompom crafts that were in myas sensory butterfly craft
likes to step on top of the stool to look at mya's stickers on her bunk bed
loves to climb onto the couch or chair and then move up and down
can't quite jump yet but getting there
getting better at copying our sounds and loves to copy motions
points at airplanes outside and loves to look at birds in the backyard
calls cars beep beep
always wants to use utensils when offered but then gets mad and doesn't want our help when he can't stuff on his plate properly
loves to go outside and says it really clearly
learned how to open doors
