We moved from NY to MD! And along with that, we also went 10 days with the bare MINIMUM in terms of furniture while we waited for the transport company to move our stuff. So, that meant I slept on an air mattress and Carlo slept on a mat on the floor. Mya still had her bed but pretty much no toys. It was still supposed to be relatively easy because we assumed we'd still have daycare.. but lo and behold, a kid HAPPENED to get COVID on that last week when we had nothing and so we had to stay at home with her that last week with 0 entertainment available. No toys, no TV. We kept some markers and books and thankfully she was really into that. That also meant more trips to the playground!
I think the first 2 days she was excited about the new adventure. But the next 3-5 days was when all the changes really affected her. Losing her friends, her old routine, her stuff, her familiar house, places, and things. It wasn't too bad, but she did have a couple of meltdowns after her afternoon naps.
On one day she even made me cry because it was so painful seeing her cry so intensely and with seemingly no way to console her and just having to wait it out a bit to let her work it out on her own. She gets so riled up that’s she’s almost hyperventilating. Then I think she forgets what she’s upset about, and is just upset at being upset. Overall a small hiccup. And thankfully bounced back in the next few days after we received all of our stuff (AKA old furniture and toys!!) I think she only cried for nighttime sleep 2-3x but adjusted fairly quickly in that sense as well.
The move was exhausting!
It was a 3 hour drive to Maryland and overall she was good! Of course she had screentime for a majority of the time, but she didn't get too restless or grumpy from not being able to move. She did puke for the first time ever for whatever reason and we didn't get to pull over for a good 10m to find a rest stop while she was in her own vomit, but she only cried for like.. a minute or two tops! I forgot if she took a nap that day.. once we did get to the new apartment, she seemed to like the newness of it all and ran around all of the rooms. When we put her down for bed, she went down without a peep even though she was in new surroundings.

It was daylight savings on two days after we moved, but we still slept earlier than we usually did with the time change.. so like the old "8:30" when we usually sleep at 10:30. Having no bed and no furniture really killed our backs and restful sleep lol but thankfully that was shortlived and we got our bed in good time and have caught up on sleep already.
After 10 days of not having ANYTHING, it was actually really overwhelming to see all of our stuff again. Only living with the bare necessities for the last 10 days, we realized that, shit.. we actually have.. a lot of stuff for having much less stuff than the average household. (If you know Carlo he tries to be pretty minimal, it’s sometimes annoying for me ^^) But honestly, we have been roughing it. People just make things work with what they have, because they have to.
Anyhow! Mya just started her new daycare yesterday, and so far so good (today is day 2!) I'll probably have an update next week on how that went. But it was nice finally having one full day to actually focus on work and get back to a routine again, same as her. My mom also came to visit for about a little over a month, so it's been nice that she's been able to play with Mya and it gives me more free time as well! It's so precious seeing other people bond with Mya and it's unfortunate that so many people (and Mya) have missed out on that, but hopefully that'll all come in due time :(!
